What is the Parliamentary Procedure for public officials online course?

This article introduces a self-paced parliamentary procedure course to help participants build a practical foundation in common public meeting procedures. It explains who the course is for, how the six-module format works, and what participants can expect to gain, including a stronger understanding of proper meeting practices.

This introductory parliamentary procedure course is designed to help Montana public officials build the foundational skills needed to manage the most common public meeting procedures with confidence. While it is not intended to cover every aspect of parliamentary procedure, it provides a strong starting point for understanding proper meeting practices and applying them effectively in public service settings.

The course is intended for anyone who wants a practical introduction to meeting procedure and a clearer understanding of how to conduct orderly, efficient, and well-managed public meetings. It supports participants in developing the knowledge needed to navigate common procedural situations and strengthen their effectiveness in official roles.

This self-paced online course is organized into six modules. In each unit, participants complete a pre-test to establish a knowledge baseline, watch a short instructional video, review supporting handouts, and finish with a quiz. This structure allows participants to move through the material at their own pace while building knowledge step by step.

By the end of the course, participants will have a stronger foundation in parliamentary procedure and greater confidence in handling routine meeting processes. Those who successfully complete all six units will also be able to access a certificate of completion.
